The Definition of Revival:

-an act or instance of reviving

-the state of being revived:

-a renewed attention to or interest in something

-a new presentation or publication of something old

Webster’s Definition of Revival:

revival is “restoration, religious awakening, meeting, being made alive or refreshed”.

Here is a powerful quote on Revival by Owen Murphy:

“When men in the streets are afraid to open their mouths and utter godless words lest the judgments of God should fall; when sinners, overawed by the Presence of God tremble in the streets and cry for mercy; when, without special meetings and sensational advertising, the Holy Ghost sweeps across cities and towns in Supernatural Power and holds men in the grip of terrifying Conviction; when every shop becomes a pulpit; every heart an altar; every home a sanctuary and people walk softly before God, this is Revival”.

-Revival is simply falling back in love with Jesus Christ.

-Revival is a renewed sensitivity towards sin

-Revival comes from the word “revive” which means literally “to live again” or “to come back to life.”

Remember this, Revival means to come back to life. But this has a much stronger implication – for someone to say that they need to come back to life is to admit that you are dead. This is a startling revelation. Revival can only come when you admit that you are dead and far away from God.

We, as Individuals, need revival

Our churches, as a whole, need revival

Our family’s need revival

Our preachers need revival

Our nation needs revival.

However, you aren’t going to sing revival in. You aren’t going preach revival in. You aren’t going to promote revival in. No election, no president, no government, or no program will bring revival down.

Revival is simply a supernatural act from a Holy God. Revival is something altogether different from evangelism on its highest level. Revival is a moving of God in the community and suddenly the community becomes God-conscious before a word is said by any man representing any special effort.

In a world full of chaos, our only hope is for God to have mercy on His people, and send a spiritual awakening to our land!
