“Loyalty isn’t grey. It’s black and white. You’re either loyal completely, or not loyal at all.” – SharnayI
Loyalty is becoming a thing of the past. We have become so consumed with ourselves that it doesn’t matter what we have to do or who we have to hurt, we simply want what’s best for US!
Unfortunately, this same poison has crept into the church. Pastors, preachers, and the church, in general, have no understanding of what loyalty is anymore. Most people are loyal until it becomes uncomfortable or until the “next best thing” comes along that will bring more benefit to them and their agenda.
Two years ago I experienced the hurt that comes from someone not being loyal. I had a preacher, who I trusted with my life, tell me that he had worked too hard for his “name” that he couldn’t take any chances on hurting that! At the moment I needed him the most, he proved his inability to be loyal. He showed that he was all about himself, not others. This is what loyalty does. It blinds and deceives the individual that it consumes. The lack of loyalty comes from an overabundance of one’s pride. They go hand in hand.
I’m thankful, however, that we serve a God who will never leave us nor forsake us! Men will let you down, but God never will. If everyone walks away in your life, there is one that will never walk away! Amen!
My friends, be loyal to those God has placed in your life. In the good times and the bad times, always be there to lend a helping hand. Let’s die to ourselves, our wants, our ego, our name, and be a REAL FRIEND.
